I thought about it but I just re-bought a Sigma DP2S. I hate when I do that but the price was so right. The DP2M seems interesting but I don't think I need it.
Anybody getting the Sigma DP1/2 Merrill ?

I'm torn between an SD1 Merrill or a DP2 Merrill. I like the form factor of the DP-series, but am a bit hesitant on hearing that the battery life is even worse than on my current DP2. Also I suspect (but cannot prove) that the built-in lense of the DP2 Merrill might be better than anything Sigma you can attach to the SD1.
And I don't need it :bang: but might buy anyway 🙄

I've read on forums BP-41 is capable of 1250 mAh vs 1300 mAh of BP-31 (strangely, Sigma isn't listing capacity of BP-41). Increased processing amounts, break-in period of new battery, lots of fiddling and menu walking - that all can make battery looking worse than it actually is.
Personally I'd like to see DP as a camera, lasting about 500 shots on single charge 🙂

My first "real" camera was a DP1, really liked it, but moved onto film after that. I'm now taking an interest in digital a little again, and a DP1-M or DP2-M would be very interesting indeed, depending on the price.

Similar thoughts with me, but I started with regular Bayer digital and moved to film. In fact the only thing a little revived my interest in digital recently were the Sigma cameras (when they got better and more usable: post-SD10), and now, after I've shot with it some years I consider the Foveon X3 sensor the only semi-decent "digital-substitute" for film (although it's not even close but it's the best substitute for me to enjoy digital lazy-arse-shooting at least with some similar-to-film character in images).
I'm a little put off with the price of the DP2 Merrill (I bought my DP2s for around 570USD when it came out years ago - Merrill is 1000USD when it came out). I could buy too much film for this money so not sure I need the Merrill, but time will tell...
So far I'm happy with my DP2s considering it's just a bloody digital camera:

Yes it's a sci-fi-like mosque in Burkina Faso (West-Africa), posed together with my trusty iron horse that had to go through hell to get there while carrying me, my wife and all the Pentax 67 (+ little Sigma DP2s for documenting) gear.
Good thing you usually had some manpower to winch it around over offroad trails and into the narrow canoes (that almost tipped over with the heavy load) over the rivers:

I discovered Margus' adventures while looking for P67 stuff. on PNet I was quite amazed to see it, and still am.
I remember when I discovered his work & adventures it was a Middle East (Syria) report, among others (I recall Australia too) posted on a Motorcycling forum.
If I look for it I might find it again, but would need his permission too.
About the sigmas, foveon seems very interesting and does a very nice rendition. I found a bargain on m4/3 and stuck on it, anyways it always attracted me. I would find interesting to see a foveon m4/3 system camera.
