How would you go a year without camera or lens purchases, regardless of intensity of GAS?

Selling is acceptable.

But no purchases.

Buying and processing film is okay, so is buying and using consumables for printing digitally.

I think I've just done that. Last purchase was a Leicaflex SL with 50 Summicron, last summer.

I did that between 2009 and last month, apart from people giving me camera or two and me passing those on the last camera I bought was a D700 (now gone) last month I bought a Nikkormat EL.

I have everything I need.

I've gone 3 years without buying a camera body, and 2 years without buying a lens. In that time, I've gotten to know the strengths and weakness of my current equipment, as well as a better understanding of how I like to take pictures.

The more I wear out my cameras, the better I know my myself and photography.
With that said, I am left with a long list as to why I HATE my camera.

No rush in changing things up anytime soon, but turning 30 may speed up the process.

I came close to doing that this past year. I only weakened last week when I bought a Canon EOS-M (for the bargain price B&H offered). Other than that, I'm pretty much where I want to be with camera gear.

Yeah, if I had half of Vickko's gear I think I could go for a decade let alone for a year without camera/lens purchase...

Hoping to do that now. Every piece of gear I have is better than my skills can take advantage of. Just have to remind myself of that every now and then.

As for digital, I got off that merry go round years ago.

As for film cameras, I'm happy to buy when the urge strikes, and sell when I want. Financially I break even, so who cares.

Just when I feel GAS is under control, the Nokton
and Zeiss haven't announced their lens yet...
and the 28 elmarit asph siren call.

I bought a bog standard Holga a year ago. Though I'm thinking about a Nikon F2 Photomic with a 55 F2.8 MICRO AIS lens.

I've bought a few accessories. Otherwise limiting myself to trades for "toys".
The things I need for work are all set. Nothing left to purchase there.
It's hard to justify buying much more with a couple 5Dii's and plenty of lens variety sitting here for the few images I need for paid projects (mostly web-ish).
Few temptations or interests out there really although... I am looking to add a digital M when I can (for personal use primarily I recognize).

I've got what I need so I think I could do it.

But how about not READING ABOUT gear for one year? Now, that could be transformative.

I'm in the process of doing that now....except for consumables, as you say. Had to replace the A/C system in my home to the tune of $15K. Summers in TX demand it. :)

I am planning for a year of no camera or lens purchases.
May God give me the strength to resist temptations at RFF and other places of temptation.

Two years ago I sold a whole lot of stuff and bought a ZM 50mm C-Sonnar and 28mm Biogon, thus beginning a year of Leica M kit stability at a time when my digital kit was in flux. After that I went through a year of additional Leica M experimentation while the digital kit was stable. I still have the two ZMs, as despite trying to sell them I thought better of it and held on to them. Somehow I don't think that fits your criteria but it's good enough for me!

Well, it wouldn't be a problem if I did not need to upgrade the digital SLR. It was bought used, 6 years ago and several functions like the A and Tv Mode have given up the ghost as well the flash intermittently working. Another year is too long.

I am seriously fed up with the buying circus.

Next week will mark a year since my last purchase.
I bought an FD 300/4 L and Hexar AF in quick succession.
I don't see another purchase in the horizon, which I think is a good thing, right?
