I'm about to buy an M6, and I already have an old LTM lens and I'm about to buy a LTM Nokton 50mm 1.5, and I'm curious what the best LTM to M-mount adapters are available? Thanks!

Leica-branded adapters are the most desirable, as one can be confident of the correct thickness, which is critical, and overall quality.

Just about as good are the Voigtlander branded ones, available from CameraQuest. The Voigtlander comes in Type I with the traditional cutout in the flange, and Type II without the cutout, to cover the coding area for digital M cameras.

Some cheap adapters are inexplicably made too thick, not allowing mounted lenses to focus to infinity. Something to watch for...

Stick to the Voigtlander or Leica ones. Beware, the old Leica ones may have been abused. If it won't fit on the camera easily, then don't force it. I've had one where the flange was bent.

I stay away from the cheaper ones. I tried a new Kipon brand one from Adorama, and it nearly wrecked the frame change mechanism on my M7. After that experience - never again.

I have trusted the Fotodiox brand for adapters. They're made in China, but the company is here in the US, and they make a bunch of accessories in addition to adapters. You can find them in Amazon now (they used to be in the auction site but no more).

I'm using the "Kenko" brand LTM to M adapters.

- Both sides are made of brass, precision-machined and plated with chromium.
- Satin surface finish.
- Precise fit and solid connection.
- Lens has no play, gap or wiggling.
- Infinity focus or beyond guaranteed.

All the best,
Mike
