Hi,
I have a bulk loaded called a Restem. It looks like it may be a rebranded Alden.

The counter does not work. Can anyone tell me how many turns required to get 36 exposures?

Cheers,
Merlyn

There is no set number - minor differences in the diameter of the core and way you taped the film to it may add up to a difference of several turns by 36 frames. A good method with non-counting loaders is to load the cartridge to completion (until the film starts binding in the shell) and pull the leader entirely from the cartridge, not the loader - that will give you as many frames as possible, around 38-39 exposures, without straining the film too much. I used to get 41 out of Agfa/Ilford cartridges, with the film binding in the shell and the leader entirely outside.

I've had my Restem since about 1982. Great loader. I don't worry about the counter, I just count the clicks - one click per frame.

Cheers, Phil
