Does a film reminder holder exist?

There was a Swiss fellow who had some nice accessories for the Leica, and I believe he had a film box-flap holder. His Name was Lutz Konermann, in Zurich. I have not got his email anymore, but goggle might get it. I don't know if he still is selling those products, though.

Edit: Actually Lutz is a German Cinematographer, who had a Zurich Address at my last contact with him.

Wish I'd known about filmTrackr. Got very tired of never remembering what was in anything, so made my own app that's coupled to a Firebase backend - means I can update what's in the camera from the web, iPhone or iPad.

It has an interface for adding new cameras and films - but (significantly) I couldn't be bothered to add a 'delete camera' button.

Only just started using it, so 90% of the cameras still have 'unknown' as their film-type 😱 but it's been really handy: just scroll the list, click on a camera, choose a film, done.

Very creative, I think. I usually just write on a piece of masking tape. I always have that on my films and write also the camera, lenses used and events/dates/motifs.

I just bought 8 luggage name tags that I can hang on my camera strap for $6 and free shipping....

Very cool Mani.

I use the poor man's version of FilmTrackr. It's just a memo on my cell phone that lists the cameras and what film is in which camera.

I really like the simplicity of this approach. I've always got my cell phone, and often use it as a light meter to check my old Leica-Meter and Luna Six when I don't quite believe them. (They're usually correct, and it's my highly adaptive eyes that are lying.) I'll have to put the Memos app on the front screen....

Thanks for the idea.

Or.. you could use the FREE filmtrackr!

displays your camera, lens, film inventory. What's in use, what's ready for developing, what's ready for scanning. Your historical usage. The menu at your favourite restaurant. Your wedding anniversary. The key to picking winning lottery numbers...
Is there anything it cannot do?
😀

I used the plastic stick-on memo holders (when they were still readily available in camera stores), and when they weren't, I resorted to buying film doors from cheap SLRs and removing the memo holders which were then epoxied to the camera back which needed one. Not wanting to mess up my Nikon F shooter, I drilled holes in the ends of the memo holder and stitched it to one end of the camera strap where it attaches to the body.
There is always someone at the photo swap meets with a box of $5.00 old non-working film cameras that are the perfect source of the memo holders if you are handy enough to remove and re-attach them as required. Lucky for me I am.

I use Numbers on my iPhone. I can then add camera and film--keep track of which camera has batteries they share. At a glance I can see all cameras and what film they have. Might have to add developing column too.

Oh, I do the same for my full film inventory.

But I like the filmtrackr so I registered.

My memory was correct, for once. Lutz has a website at www.konermann.net. He has product line called Leicagoodies. I have pasted the picture he provides of his film reminder clip. Trouble is, I don't see it listed among his current products. I will see if I can figure out how to contact him to ask about it. If that doesn't work, maybe one of you with better computer skills can figure out how.

OK I emailed Lutz. It wasn't too hard. We will see if they are still available! I might order a few myself.

Up till now I have used masking tape. Blue for Velvia, Green for Tri-X. For everything else, there's the plain old tan color. I wrap a foot or so of each around film canisters and peel off an inch or so when needed.

Peace.

just checked out filmtrackr.com. looks awesome! web-based, so available anywhere and on all platforms, and with it's own icon on the iphone like a real ios app.

For my cameras without a of film box end holder I apply a P-touch label.
In the field a handwritten masking tape label works just as well.
Either stays on securely but can be removed easily leaving no trace.

Use of a battery-dependent device to keep track of such information is silly.

I use post-it brand labeling & cover up tape which is the same as most correction tapes. It comes in various widths and the adhesive does not leave marks on the camera like other types of tape can.
