Fix the M2, or get an M6?

Not a fan of match diode LEDs, often it's not obvious how many stops away from the recommended setting.

Not to mention they are blinding in certain conditions.

Finder flare.

Good decision. 🙂

I just got off the phone with Sherry about my M5. She has been having some medical problems which explains the delay. However, she says she will be back to normal this week and expects the M5 to be completed shortly.

I still think you made the correct decision on the M2. I have owned them all and the M2's are the ones I keep coming back to. Of course, I am finding the classic focal lengths of 35/50/90 to be the perfect combo for my usage. And if I go wider a 21 needs an aux finder anyway and my 135 comes with googles so the finder does not really limit you too much.

or are willing to put up with the not insubstantial learning curve

An incident meter, a few weeks and some notes to switch from meter to meter less, much easier than many think, and in fast changing light conditions, simply switch fast to the correct settings. My index finger is locked to the speed dial 🙂 and the camera is always ready to shoot with the correct setting.

a well-used metered camera will give you...autoexposure mode, once you learn how to lock exposure when required

As the M has no sophisticated matrix metering, it fools you more often than expected. And if you know when and based on what you have to lock or adjust exposure than you also know the light condition and the necessary exposure settings. Only for night shots I still use sometimes my spot meter in extremely difficult lighting situations, but even then, the meter reading is quit often really close to my initial guessing.

I shoot since a few month without meter now and never had so consistent results before when using the camera meter, even with adjustments. Wished I'd started earlier to shoot meter less with a look on my negatives before I switched.

So my advice to the TO, keep the M2 and give meter less a try.
