How rare is the red dot M4-2?

I have one, but have not seen many of them. Normally they do not have the red dot on the front. How rare is this camera?

Interesting. When was it manufactured? Could it have been just before the M4-P's came out? You might just have one of those $22000. Leica's🙂

New one on me. Thought all M4-2 were sans dot.

I think they're less common than the silver M4-P. 😉

Only 100 made but I have seen them only with black strap lugs.

I guess I missed my red M4-2 opportunity then I ordered and installed M4-2 leatherette.
Should have order M4-P kit and red dot. 🙂.

My serial # is 1504101...

So real? Fake? The finish is vulcanite not leatherette so I'd think it would be kind hard to fake.

It wouldn't be hard to cut the Vulcanite, and install a red dot. My copy of the "Handbook of the LEICA-System" (July 1982) has an M4-P on the cover with no red dot. Wonder how many of those were ever made.

If an M4-2 has a "Made in Canada" engraving on its top plate, then it's really rare ^^
