Reaching out to all the leica nerds now -

I have a late M2 button rewind - 1959. As i stripped it for a CLA, I was surprised to see that the 2nd curtain was glued onto the main drum, not clamped. It was my understanding that (all?) M3s had a clamped curtain (which came before the M2) and i thought M2s were the same.

Was it a cost saving measure that they later changed?

just curious.

Glued too, but the curtains were replaced at some time.

Mine is clamped, an M2 from 1962 (don'remember the exact year).
