My short story:
I had an M4, used it with glasses. It was pretty ok.
I got rid of the M4, and a while after that got myself an M2 that I still have. I found more an more irritating to shoot with a 35mm.
To the point I got myself a 0.58x.

lately I got another M2 and discovered that they were not all created equal.
My first M2 had a much smaller eyepiece mask than the new one, and both masks where rectangular and different than the modern barrel shape one.

ok, so it wasn't that short. Let me conclude:

If like me you wear glasses, shoot an M2 with a 35mm, do yourself a favor and buy THIS:

I hope I just saved someone from the years of half frustration I had with this wonderful camera...

Totally agree and was fortunate to find these by accident on the Dag site. Had them put into both of my M2's for great improvement. Also put on a later M6 eyepiece with the rubber cover to protect my glasses.

Absolutely the larger mask is a good idea, but seeing the 35mm frame with glasses on is still difficult. I recently lucked into a -1.5D Leitz eyepiece diopter lens on ebay for $55, which I thought was rather a lot, but I understand new ones cost their weight in plutonium. It screws right into my M2 eyepiece and does the job perfectly.

Cheers,
Dez

I pulled that thing out of my M2 a long time ago and when I did, I made a comparison and didn't notice any difference. I still can't see anything outside of the 35 frames.

if it worked for you, great, but for me, it didn't seem to do anything...

with the old mask frame I couldn't see inside the frame.

curious about how much he charges for the M6 eyepiece? I know he sells a cheap plastic cover but I would prefer the real thing.

The M6 eyepiece is a few dollars cheaper from Leica in NJ than from DAG so bought it from them.
Think it was about $100 and while expensive my original M2 eyepiece was scratched so only bought one, my other M2 has the plastic snap on cover from DAG.

Using any camera with glasses is just the second best option. Get a screw-in diopter lens (account for the build in -0.5 in the finder, though) and be done. You can use your camera without the glasses, therefore you won't scratch them and you get close enough as intended by design to see all the frame lines properly.

Once you have this screwed into the finder and take the first look through it, you will immediately ask yourself "heck, why haven't I bought one years ago?!"

Thanks for pointing this.
In my case, it's not such a good solution
I'm wearing glasses 100% of the time.
using a diopter is more combersome because it means I need to have the glasses on and off all the time.
It also doesn't help people like me with heavy astigmatism.

what I try to do when I go out for shooting is to wear contact lenses, it helps a lot...
-7.50 and 2.50 astigmatism here. i'd need about 5cm of stacked diopters...
