Leica M6 out of sight

my favorite camera ever was M6 and wished for a digital M6, and now have it almost in M10. of course it cannot be the same, but the iq from M10 is so good, am sticking with it, plus it's easy to fine-tune rf to spot-on focus, with 2mm allen wrench, using the slightest, gentle nudge in either direction to get there.

I bought my first m6 with a 35 pre-asp summicron for 1200. 10 years ago maybe. Since then, I have never payed for a camera again, Sold them both a while back for a lot more than I payed. Would've made even more now...
Currently own a repainted M2 and a Mamiya 7ll. Makes me think, them Mamiya 7 prices are crazy, maybe I should consider....

I used to think the M6's viewfinder and rangefinder patch was the best in the world: bright, clear, contrasty - then a friend showed me a Mamiya 7. Stunning and better in every way.

If prices on the Mamiya 7 weren't so very high, I'd consider one - as it'd be a very nice medium format rangefinder.

With the rising prices does it mean I will be at greater risk from potential thieves?

As a thief myself, I definitely keep up with values of gear.

They show up on eBay all the time.

I remember when the MP was first introduced for sale in 2002/2003 at a staggering price of $2,495 (US)! It was so absurd, my go-to Leica dealer refused to carry them at that price.

Did he think they were too expensive or too cheap?

I remember that too. Crazy prices! Now look at them. I don't even bother to check anymore. What are they, like over 5 G's now? Unreal. I doubt I'll ever buy a new Leica in my life.

I think prices on Leicas are going to climb. More people shooting film and wanting "the best". They are relatively still affordable compared to some of the digital stuff out there, and you can get your money back out of Leica if you want.

The film doesn't know or care whether it's being exposed with newly bought or previously owned equipment.

I remember when he was a hipster doofus.

Huss,

We hipsters often don't get appreciated. LOL.

All I know is that I must have a personality flaw, because no matter what I do it seems I annoy people.

Pretty much I never grew up, I always have fun, and I have not changed much since the 70's.

It also helps that I don't look 62. I get profiled as a surfer. 5' 10" 154 pounds and I have abs.

To stay young I sometime carry a Baby Linhof around NYC, and I say, "With every Linhof sold comes a free gym membership." My right arm is deformed, over developed, and about an inch longer than my left arm from carrying around heavy cameras.

Even though I'm a skinny guy, I have the ugly thick neck of a football player from carrying around gear.

Cal

Just scanning a roll of Tmax400 from my M5. Every single lens used (from 28 to 135) in focus, and every single frame exposed to close to perfection.

I know what I'd rather buy of the M5 or M6.
