Leica M7 '5000' flashing

The problem is the ISO deal on the backdoor of the camera, the contacts corrode easily and the mechanism providing pressure between the rotatable dial and the fixed parts wears out with time. My M7 went to Leica (Germany) 3 times and every time it had come back this same error of wrong or flashing ISO in the VF appeared. I finally went to Leica Ginza (Tokyo) who solved the issue by tightening a screw but told me that the problem will reoccur.

That dang DX reader has been the most annoying part of my shooting M7 bodies. I had an a la carte (second hand) that was in NJ two or three times and could never work flawlessly. My current bodies are generally fine, other than the occasional hiccup with known problem film cassettes.

Absolutely that back dial can be pretty troublesome. The spinning it back and forth repeatedly tweak can be a somewhat long term fix, but certainly not permanently. The added washer in the baseplate does seem to be the fix for the DX reading issues (or was for most every M7 I've had), the rear dial has it's own woes.

Well my problem was because Silberra uses copper and black colors for the DX reader.

All the other film mfgs use silver and black and all those work fine.
