My prized Komura 28mm f3.5 lens won't fit my M4-2. It's a screw mount onto an adapter. But the lens is wide enough to have to push into the lens release button on the body, meaning, it's in a permanent state of release. :bang:

The lens fitted fine on my Bessa R3A (which has been traded up for the Leica). Anyone have any experience with dealing with a similar issue? I can't see this being the adapter's fault (works fine with other screw mount lenses I have).

Also, anyone have any idea how much the Komura may be worth if I have to sell it? It's a pretty hard lens to find.

One consideration may be to ask Don Goldberg to change the lens release button to the modern flat ones without a screwhead. This may give you the needed clearance, and is similar to the release button on the Bessas.

My M4-2 has a dished lens release button with an orange dot in the middle. That may work also.

That is a nice idea! I'm in the UK so will ask around.

Another approach is to take a Dremel to the adapter. If it's a good adapter (e.g. Leica) then perhaps picking up a different one.

Take a look at CV and Leica adapters if that's not a Leica. I had a M4-P, but I never had a problem with that. Take a look at pictures online and compare the sizes.

A quick update: I visited Newton Ellis in Liverpool, U.K. They milled a section out of the lens release button (still perfectly usable). The lens fits perfectly now. Oh, and they gave me a spare replacement lens release button should I ever decide to sell the camera. All for £25. Worth it to keep the lens. 🙂
