Hi All,

I've gotten this light streaking on a few frames of a roll shot with a recently CLA'd M3. Do any of you know what it might be? Given the orientation perpendicular to the shutter curtains, I wonder if it's a light leak. Many thanks!

Where on the film was this particular negative? Near the start or the end? Was your camera inside a half-case? Are there any more similar streaks?

Do you have another picture that is landscape orientation rather than portrait? Does it appear on top or bottom of the picture ? Possibly coming from the rear door (?).

I've heard that light leaks can develop at the strap lugs. It seems like that leak would be at about the right position if you turned the camera so the film advance lever was at the top.

Did you change lens for that shot?

It looks to me your light shield in the chamber is starting to fail. I've seen this a number of times over the years. If the CLA is under warranty I'd start there.

Agreed. The replacement will be very thin metal rather than fabric.

DAG repaired both of my M6 at 2 or 3 years from new. Same problem. Still ok from 35 years ago.

Shows intermittently because of how the sun is oriented and if you do or do not use a lens cap.
