M5! M5! M5! M5!

Congratulations on your combo!

That looks quite nice, and I hope you will have some very nice photos with your new baby!

Since February I´ve got an M5 too, and I´m very happy with the results. The spot-metering is a good help in many low light situations.

Here's an M5 question -- When you look through the finder with a 50mm lens, there are four, rounded frame "corners" in the very center of the frame. This indicates the area being measured by the spot meter (right?). Need to get an instruction book!

Exactly.

For 90mm lenses, it's approximately the rangefinder patch (which is why it has rounded edges). For 35mm lenses, it's approximately the 135mm frameline.

Other than that it's a bit of guesswork. I use a 21mm lens on an 28/50 LTM-M adapter, which gives me the 50mm framelines for the metering area and works well.

And I now have mine.....😀

The lenses of choice for me are the Canon 100/f2 and the
Canon 50/f0.95.

Note, also the comparative sizes of the M5 against the Panasonic Lumix SLR.... The M5 is not all that big!!!

........And I thought the M4-P was a good balanced M Leica conversion basis for the Canon f0.95

The M5 looks even better, fits the lens well, in both size (camera/lens ratio) and without taking out much of the rangefinder, I can`t wait to see the results when shooting with this combo, how bout some early mornin shots of the Golden Gate Bridge on your next day off?

According to what Leo`s told me it works just fine, very little of the Viewfinder`s obstructed by the lens......and using he`s the frame lines - (that finder on top of the camera is for the Canon 100mm)

The M5 center frameline window provides illumination for the lines and is so constructed as o distribute the gathered light evenly.

As a result, the f/0.95, sitting almost 1 cm outboard of the face of the body, doesn't really block the light gathering ability and the framelines are very brightly illuminated. Really does work well with this body.

I'll get my first roll back this p.m....(bated breath).......🙄
 
My V2 90mm f2 -just- arrived back, from Sherrie Krauter. It balances very nicely on M5, the metering area is roughly the central rangefinder patch. -Very- nice!
