Overall, the 45/2 did very well with the M9 today.

Thanks Raid, love the piano picture !
Maybe you can pair the 45/2 with the M8 for your next outing

I would assume it's basically identical to ZM50/2 Planar?
I use G2 with G45, it's tack sharp.. And I also adapted it to my Fuji cameras, results are nice

Some claim that the ZM has more neutral colors and that the 45/2 is unmatched for sharpness.
Isn't there an adapter for the G mount for the Fuji camera?

Anyhow, I love the color rendering you have showed us, awesome.
Yes, there is. Metabones makes one and feels nice.

I love the way it renders on the M9. I am currently using mine on the Sony A7 with an AF adapter, and it is at least as sharp as the latest 50mm Summicron pre-asph, if not even more.
I'm a bit confused: Are you using a modified to M-mount Contax G lens? Or are you using a 'native' lens that can be auto-focused on the A7? The mention of the AF adapter is what caught my eye here. If indeed you're using a lens that can be auto-focused on the A7, what is the brand of the adapter? Thanks.

I also noticed the mentioning of the AF adapter. Very interesting.

It's invented by a Chinese guy: Mr. Liang and you can find the adapter here:

You can adapt all Contax G lenses to SONY NEX/A bodies with auto-focus function.
I have tried the adapter on my SONY NEX7 body with the previous version and at that time the focus was bit slow and sometime causes the camera shut down.
Somebody said the updated version 2 is much better but you can't use 21mm and 28mm Biogon because of the big intrusion of the rear element and the color shift.

So it costs about $300 to get the AF adapter for the SONY.
Is it possible to make an AF adapter for a Leica?

This is a good question, redisburning.
I also would like to know how the link between lens and camera works. If the AF inside the lens alone?

Hi, no, I do not think an AF Contax G to Leica adapter would be possible at all.
In the original Contax G1/G2 bodies, both the AF control module and AF motor drive are in the camera body itself. The lenses do not have otor drives built in.
The camera moves the lenses' focusing group through a screw in the lens mount that joins a shaft in the camera mount. The AF module in the camera does telemetry and tells the motor how much to move the lens until it reaches the focusing point.
The Leica M does not have a motor drive to move the lens into focus, nor an AF module to control it.
This adapter has the motor drive built in its body, but it receives the orders of when, where direction and for how long to move the lens focusing group from the info given by the camera, something that is completely lacking in a Leica M body.

Easiest way to explain: Contax G focuses like Nikkor AF-D lenses. Screw-drive type.
