It's time to remember. 15 years ago today, I was going back to our destroyed hotel room to look for the safe in the room, money, passport and cameras were in the safe box. All of our family was safe so we were lucky. My Leicas were not, but that didn't bother me of course.
The cameras become a memory that I'll pass to my son who was with me 3 years old and now 18. He actually remembers some things of the disaster.
At the time we were safe, he found a small plastic thing on the ground and gave it to me as a gift. It has now broken into pieces, but I still have a piece of that plastic in my camera bags for luck.

Yes it's the cameras that I had with me. The whole room was filled with water. It's corrosion and sand in both of them.

As you say it's time to remember. And it's good you all were safe. And interesting your son remember. Thanks for this thread.

Thank you. We where in Kamala, Thailand. We had luck to be in the hotel with 3 floors at the time and just had our breakfast when the water came. The water reached 2 floors so we stood on the roof trying to be safe, when the second wave come in.
