have i mentioned that i picked up that 75/2.5 lens this past weekend?
i like it! at least the looks and feel of it, so far. i have not taken any shots yet. i wanted to stroll about on saturday but i hurt my back and wound up lounging around most of the weekend.
soon...

also i 'won' an industar 61 lens on ebay - a 53/2.8, i think, very cheap and then i won another, it just said fed lens 55/2.8 - i think it's the industar 61ld lens. one is coming from from the ukraine and the other from vancouver, b.c.
i wonder which will arrive first!
it's kinda funny actually cause i don't use a 50 all that much and now i will have 2.

what scares me is that i keep reading really good things about the cv 28/3.5...

Trust me - getting new lenses to play with is great fun! 🙂

Just repeat this mantra over and over Joe:

"Having too many lenses will only confuse me! I wouldn't be taking more photos because I will be changing lenses all the time and miss the opportunities!"

😀

i know i know!

when i started this recent journey i stated that i wanted to keep it simple - one maybe 2 lenses at most.
i'm up to 4 and i've only shot maybe 2 rolls of actual film.

i need a therapist, quick!

Joe, I understand how you feel. I have 4 35mm lenses and I am getting the 5th one next week (CV PII)! I just could not help it and the only way that I could rationalise it is to buy more bodies and shoot more photos! Perhaps, the more surplus equipment we have will compel us to take more photos or is it the love of taking photos compels us to buy more equipment?! 😕

Want a solution, I'll give you one and some homework !

Write me an essay about the differences in handling, build quality and optical performance of the I-61 vs. the I-61 l/d. Min 1000 words, and of course illustrate it with some photo examples.

Then, a study of the specific bokeh from the 75/2.5, and try to find a solution for the still open question: 'is there any connection between the 'appeal' of this lens and all those Kris' pictures of really beautiful women taken with it ??' 😀

[Depending on the answer to #2, I'll get the 75 myself! LOL!]

More Temptation...

More Temptation...

Oscar, in case you're not tempted yet to buy this 75/2.5 for portrait photos, here's another sample. 😀

Ooops...I forgot. Most (if not all) of you guys here are married!

Sensia 400 and 75/2.5 at f2.8

Married and with Kids:

"AAAHHH! It's Darla! She grew-up and there are still fish in her hair!"

And of course the crab would be borrowing a line from the gull and proclaim "Mine, Mine, Mine..."

You know when you are married with kids when: The spa jets in the hot tub have been transformed into the EAC for Marlin and Dorie to ride with Squirt and Crush.

Kris, you're evil... really evil... 😛 ... but yes, I've found myself checking the 75 price at my local store 😀

I'm sure Columbo would like this Peugeot better than his 403... and sure he'd make some fun comment on the girl too !

Nice car! 😀

Can anyone post an example with the Jupiter-9 85/2?
I have one on my way from Ukraine now 🙂
I will need a good deep hood for it too, so I`d like to hear if anyone has a good source for that.

I love requests like this.

A little old, and I have more recent shots that are quite sharp,

Overall a REAL BARGAIN!, I had to lube the helical to get past one spot. It is not as heavily made as the Nikkor 85 F2, and slightly less contrast, at least in my sample. Personally, I like the affect that the Jupiter-9 gives. It takes the much easier to find 49mm filter. Check the focus though! On mine, someone took the care to calibrate it very carefully so that closest focus at F2 really is in focus. I have read stories from others that have not been so lucky. I had to calibrate a Nikkor 135mm F3.5 by putting one layer of thin copper shim material over the RF coupling of the lens.

Thanks Brian!

That looks good!
I was a bit worried because my Jupiter 8 turned out to be really unpredictable on my Bessa R, but that may be because the Jupiters are VERY sensetive to flare?

Here`s some examples: They are shot only a second or two apart, same exposure. The first one lacks contrast, the second one is ok

I just received my new 75/2.5 today. I haven't tried it yet but I can't wait to get a day off to go out and shoot.

The lens looks really nice and will be a nice complement to my Ultron 35/1.7 and my R2.

I'm planning to go through at least the summer without getting another lens. ;o) I want to use those two thoroughly and keep my kit (bag) as small as possible. With the Vivitar 283 and the Minolta Auto Meter IV, it's about as big as I want to carry everyday everywhere. I use a LowePro Nova 2 AW bag.

welcome marc!

i recognize your name from the cvlist.
i too just got a 75/2.5 this past weekend and have yet to use it. i hope to have an opportunity on canada day. between our local kid's parade and a yearly bbq at a friend's home i expect there should be some good opportunities.
i also just 'won' a couple of russian 50mm lenses on ebay and am waiting for them to arrive - not soon i imagine.
i use the bessa r, along with the 35/2.5 also recently purchased.

Plexi,
Given that the lens is set to the same F-Stop, and the DOF is the same, the words ("Politikern" for one) in the background look out of focus. It should not have shifted focus between the two images; and I suspect that the first picture is out-of-focus, hence the lower contrast. The Russian lenses do have a "quality control" problem as is often stated. My Current Jupiter-9 in LTM has been very good, but a prior one in Contax mount was a problem to focus close-up and wide-open. The Helical in that latter one had some slop that caused focus shift. So the distance scale is right-on, the RF is aligned, but the lens-to-film distance changed ever so slightly. I learned to apply some pressure to pull the lens toward the camera while focussing. My current LTM jupiter-9 was a little stiff focussing, to the point that you could accidentally start to dismount it, but lubing it and "exercising" it worked out the problem. It is not as smooth as the Nikkor 85, but then again cost 20% as much. You may want to check your lens out.
