Thanks for the photos too, they're very nice indeed (I'd probably only be wanting such a lens for b&w) - but in the last one, is that evidence of coma in the shapes of the oof lights?
Still don't know if I'll bid on it but if I do it'll only be if it stays cheap, as I don't have a lot of money to spend right now - if I don't get it, I hope it goes to an RFFer.
Thanks again, and good luck.
You are welcome.
Actually I got mine a while back, when I just first got into RF. It was my second RF lens, after CV Ultron 35/1.7 and first Leica. I didnt know abou this site at that time and really didn't know what I was buying. So I got it almost by accident. I just knew the name Leica and wanted to get something cheap to try it out. So I found this Summitar. While clean glass and smooth focus, it has very minor cleanning marks that don't seem to affect much. It also has one locking "ear" missing, one that lockes lens once it is extended. But it locks well with the other two. And I got it for like $70 or so. Now that I used it, I'm glad I did get it, as lately a lot more people learned about Summitars it seems and they have gone up in price. As I said before, I have tried several Leica lenses and while most were better technically, I really like the look I get from this Summitar. But I really enjoy those old lenses overall - like the ones I have on my folders - uncoated, yet very good. Having a nice lenshood helps a lot I think. And I do not use filters on them.
So, even if not this time, maybe you can get one later - it's a worthy lens to have I think. Not for every application, maybe, yet for some things it really is a great lens. It does colour well too - I don't have a scan handy, but it really shines for B&W I think. Good luck!
