Taken on local Main Street festival with same couple. M3 ELC and I-26M.

So, this July 1st is declared here to be 150 years of Canada.
Something historical due to it. M3 ELC with Indistar-26M. Old Kodak 50D in ECN2 and one darkroom print.:

About this picture...

Current PM of Canada in interview with German media told what Canadians are less organized comparing to Germans due to French and Latin blood in Canadians...

I like to put pictures in couples. This is the spooky one 🙂

Taken with Rokkor Minolta CLE 40 f2, which I wanted to try mostly on M-E and it apears to give "double-trouble" bokeh on digital. I don't see it much on film, but M3 DS ELC has ELC 50 Cron IV for now. Currently I'm using this ELC-ELC couple with color C-41 film.

I still haven't tried ELC 50 Cron IV on BW film. Still color for now and slow. Is it going to be better than Jupiter-3 on M3 as shown here? Free music in the park:

Yet, I'm not big fan of J-3 on color film...

Wow, your J-3 is great on BW film. I need to dig mine out and see if its as good as yours. I remember being disappointed with something about that lens, but can't remember what. Mine's 1957 and shimmed for Leica by a fellow RFFer.

But right now, my only film set up is an MDa with a 15/4.5 on it. It works fine as a superwide snapshooter, but I haven't been getting out where it can be used effectively. Work, work, work.

Mine is from 56 and very clean optically, plus I CLA'd it to be as smooth as modern Planar 50 ZM (I sold it) to focus and it has plastic wire tie to serve as focus tab.
I shimmed it for FED-2, one extra shim, three for M. But even shimmed not for M it does it well for me on M3.

It was taken with same J-3 wide open on M3, but printed under enlarger, not negatives scans as two above:

Oh, I'm thinking about adding 21mm lens to be able to show something different here again.

Went to see some remaining parts of Toronto which are not vandalized by over developing, yet. My daugher was asking me to see it.
I have with me M3 DS ELC and Rokkor 40/2 with HP5+ @1200. Now I have some frames to print...

M3 ELC with same lens for Kodak Gold film, check tractor manufacturer 🙂 :

with Elmar-M 90/4 collapsible:

Summicron 50 v4 "Beaver tail" hasn't grow on me and bw film, yet.
I see it sharp and neutral and this is it:

M3C50IVHP5hcBaug139.jpg

I think, it is even more sharp than Rigid I had:

U57736I1505147589.SEQ.1.jpg

But even re-shimmed for FSU J-3 is sharp enough for me on M3 DS ELC:

U57736I1505147589.SEQ.0.jpg

My Jupiter-3 copy is one of those lenses where you develop, scan or print for first time and you knew right away it is yours lens.
It didn't happened with the Rigid, nor with Cron 50 V4. Both good on color, film and digital, but not on BW film, prints for me. I think, I might go back to collapsible Cron. It was very pleasing for BW. Plenty of unique character to be different from Jupiter-3 and worth of keeping for M3 DS ELS.

Oh, I received returned phone call this morning. My M4-2 is up to procedure soon. And it needs another part, again. Walking around, traveling with this camera anywhere and anytime for two years is going to cost me...

But if I could get it back working again, the Summarit-M 35 2.5 is the best lens I ever have for BW (well, color and digital as well). It is not only "you know it from first film" lens, it is the lens which amazes me almost with every right taken, good printed frame, print...

Thanks for the photos Kostya!

I know what you mean by "not yet vandalized by development". My brother went back to some places in California that I last visited about 20 years ago. He sent me phone pictures and its completely destroyed and unrecognizable. They even got rid of the river and reshaped the hillsides. I would have never thought humans could do so much destruction in the name of "development". Made me cry.

As for cron's. My v4 was a "tiger claw" lens but I had Don Goldberg change it to a regular focus tab (half moon?). I like it much more this way. And yes, its sharp. Sometimes it doesn't seem sharp when I look at a photo, but then I "zoom in" and I notice its so sharp at such a fine level, it makes an optical illusion when I view the photo at longer distances (makes it seem unsharp).

My J-3 is just a tad soft at 1.5 and 2.0 on my digital cameras. It's more than just a matter of missing focus (which it does, but that's normal). On film, I think its a fine performer, but I need to work on making a decent photograph. I'm working on it. I do think I would like the J-3 more if it had a focus tab. I'd like it to have the same kind of focus tab as my summicron. And while we're at it, I want a focus tab on my Biogon too. I saw someone selling a Zeiss 28/2.8 and he/she custom fit a Leica-like focus tab on the lens that looked great. Hmm. Maybe I should give them a PM?

I think a 21 would be fun. Its so different than a 28, which I think you didn't like. I have a CV 21/4 and an Elmarit 21/2.8 e60. The Leica lens is great, but big and sometimes seems clumsy. The CV lens is small and fun, but mine isn't perfect. I think it might be one of those decentered lenses. But just barely. It does the color shifting thing on digital M, so I have to fix that on the computer (Cornerfix). Not a big deal, but sometimes I get tired of spending the time fixing a lot of images. The Elmarit (coded) works great on the digital M. Both lenses work great on the M2. I guess I'm saying I would probably not spend a lot of money on a Leica 21 until you know you really like the focal length. The CV lenses are a great deal -- great lens for the money.

Thank you, Jeff, for checking on me.
You provided very good and makes sense information to me. I appreciated it. It is valuable and healing as well. I noticed the same zoom-in effect with v4 Cron on digital.

I like to try lenses. Not all, but some. I ordered Orion-15. It might require some cleaning...
My problem with CV pancakes is constantly shifting aperture ring.

The Jupiter-3 lens focus part needs to be washed in Coleman fuel by the toothbrush and re-lubed with slight amount of lighter than original grease. With cable tie as focus collar it feels more smooth than some old Leitz lenses. It is also possible to order Leica half-moon focus tab from tab and glue it on J-3 with 3M auto (for spoilers) tape. I ordered these, but cable tie is good enough.
Same works for J-12. Mine is very smooth to focus with cable tie.

I think, high-rise buildings are not working for the feel of vibrant community because somehow entire building works for the street level.
This is from Kensington Market area in Toronto. M3 DS ELC with Minolta 40 CLE:

It is very different atmosphere in this district comparing to the lake-shore close Toronto downtown parts where matrix grid and builders greed took it over...

M4-2 is back! And back in business!!!
I picked it up yesterday took test shots under bright light and took it with J-3 for the Fall Fair. It was soo dark I could not see J-3 aperture numbers and meter numbers.

HP5+ ISO3200 hcb.

First day, or second of the Fall. +31C...

I made my very first photo book and gave it to the principal of the new old school in home town yesterday. Same school, same principal was photographed with M4-2 in December 2015.

The book was considered to be worth of the school library!

Also yesterday I filed Rokkor 40 for 35 frames on M-E. M3 DS ELC with Beaver Tail Cron for now. And M4-2 (normal 35mm frames) is with Summarit-M 35 2.5.

I was trying new lith developer yesterday. It has some Russian name and four components. Old AGFA Brovira 2 was OK in it.

And on this morning after Canadian Thanksgiving long weekend local news was the official bankruptcy of SEARS Canada, with 11K people to go. And new federal tax on employers discounts.
Plus we were told what 40+% of Canadians will be fat in few years. And guys like me are going to be visual minority. But this is nothing new or strange to me. I'm in 40% long time ago, came here from ex-country with hundred plus ethnic groups, we had Хинди руси бхай бхай (हिंदी रूसी भाई भाई) and our elder daughter is saying what full dating and mating with same looking person is as weird as dating cousin.

It looks like M4-2 is back to business, indeed. I took it with me to Montreal on business trip and it did function on me as usual, best film camera for the street I own.

Walked for hours in the dark every day after finishing on the site (Radio Canada).

So it is tripod 🙂.

Have some negatives to print by now:

U57736I1510436026.SEQ.2.jpg

Most are HP5+ @1600 developed in hcA for eight minutes, so it is close to 3200.

The serial number of my M3 falls within the ELC (Midland-made) range, so it's technically Canadian even if it says Made in Wetzler.

These were photographed recently in Guelph, Ont.
