First time seeing this post and I really enjoy looking at the photos you've taken!

I do have some questions as I've recently discovered the M4-2 and there aren't many videos or reviews talking about it to satisfy my curiosity.

Since the M4-2 appears to be cheaper than other M versions, mainly the older ones such as M3, M2 and what not. How would you compare the feel and every day use of the Canada made one compared to the ones made in Germany.

Also the advanced lever on the M4-2, is that a plastic covering on the end of it? Does the camera feel any "less expensive" than it's older counterparts or would you say that it still gives the Leica experience while in use in the field? I've never held or used any of the older M or any M cameras so I'm curious for a honest opinion on the experience of using the Canada made to that of the Germany.

Thanks,
David

Thank you.

I don't think I'll provide satisfaction for your question.
First of all I never used Gernan film M as everyday. I had M3 ELS DS with C seal. It was "more expensive" in the feel. In the field it was totally irrelevant. I had M4-P and its feel was more toyish, than M4-2. And then I saw M6 for first time, I did not recognized it was Leica...
Yes, it is plastic part, just like on M4. In the field and under -20C it feels better than bare metal.
At the end, it is what you need from everyday camera. German feel or something else. All film M are in use, because of it. Here is no bad M.

I feel M4-2 as well balanced tool. If you ever worked with tools every day it is obvious that it is not about how rich it feels, but how unubstractive it is. M4-2 is the tool I could set and use without looking at anything, but viewfinder. It has normal hot shoe. It has smoothest shutter speed dial. It worked for three years as everyday camera, before it needed new part. But you'll get to this if any film Leica is in everyday use. If in real use. If it is one frame a day and no -20, +40 C use then it will lasts longer.
So, German, ELC think twice if you have money and willing to send it for service every three or so years and wait. Someone like DAG might sit on your Leica for months. It took several months just to find broken part for my M4-2 with another service.

I have Telenal C-41 1L Press Kit from BH, before they stopped shipping it. I mixed it on July 20th 2017.
Today I present you 🙂 roll #34, Kodak Ultra Max purchased in BH store during our family Manhattan 2017 trip.

On same roll I used Summarit-M 35 2.5 and switched from 50 IV to 50 III with next town M4-2 owner.
Summarit-M 35 2.5 is above.

This one is 50 III for sure.

Don't know why, but I'm finding local Smirnoff to be better.

I purchased it once they told me it is Ukrainian. It is shown at our Ukrainian friends house, We also brought these sausages. 🙂.

Thank you.

Excellent on the camera as a tool.

We are using artificial christmas tree. Same since our first New Year in Canada.
First years we kept celebrating New Year as most important.

M4-2 with Summarit-5 35 2.5. Prints scan before they get dry. 🙂

M4-2 now has vertical disaligment and extra line in 50mm framelines...

Drying prints, not negatives. Drying negatives shows different artifacts.
For later on I'll have negatives scans which went to the toilet before developing.

UPD, vertical alignment done. Still don't know how to adjust framelines.
