I too, had no idea what a Nikon M was when I found it at a antiques show in my small town probably 20 years ago. It was a basket case when I bought it, cloudy lens, shutter totally gummed up, so I sent it off to the Head Bartender's repair tech for a CLA. It came back looking and working like new. The Canon lens is a very unusual 28mm F3.5 in Contax/Nikon mount that I found on the RFF classifieds. Nice combo which I still use.

Not a custom modification. Canon made less than 400 of this lens in the Contax/Nikon lens mount. It's the same as the LTM version, but in the C/N mount. You can read more about it here:

The bending of the beam at the top of the photo is not a distortion caused by the lens, but is caused by time. The Amotal has no barrel or pincushion distortion.
