Hi Han... I poked around and found three rolls of B&W shot with the 28 'cron; a Pan-F, a Tri-X, and a Fuji Neopan 400CN chromogenic, this last shot with an orange filter, increasing contrast, and the only one of the three that's been scanned. Here are three shots from that roll, the first recognizably a B&W shot of the same empty storefront door as one color shot with the 28 Skopar, the second another view of that store, and the third a bit of bent sheetmetal discarded behind the auto body shop.J. Because it is said to be even more contrasty. Like you ..... i can't judge lensperformance from a colorpicture .. because i do not shoot color nor have any interest to do so in the near future.

This crap about 'no character' is absolutely crap!!!!
It is sharp across the whole frame wide open onwards. It is highly corrected for distortion and flare. Out of focus areas are smooth as they should be. Sure not as smooth as a 50mm lens, but that's due to depth of field associated with a wide angle, not quality of 'bokeh'.
I swapped my beloved 35/1.4 asph for this lens and never looked back. A perfect compliment to my 50/1.4 asph lens.
Don't get sucked into the over-hype pf this lens as it is expensive and the VC 29/1.9 is definately better value, but remember this does not mean it is better, it is not. The Leica 28/2 asph is the best, and the price says so!
