Summicron Dual Range Love?

The DR has a special charm in B&W - if you are a B&W shooter, this lens can really enchant, in fact I think it is the best 35mm B&W normal lens ever made.

With colour it's not slouch either:

I was able to mount the 50 DR on my M9 in the close focus setting. Didn't have any issues with mounting it and taking photos, but I read it was not to be used in the regular configuration (not close focus).

Yes, I believe it hits some of the light baffles if you use it in the normal mode.
😩

Cheers,

This is my favorite lens for portraits and the single feature that would do the most to prompt me to buy another digital Leica body would be modification of the baffles so that the DR Summicron can be used throughout its range.

A couple in the near range on an M240:

I agree with mfogiel - this is a unique lens for B&W photography and possibly the best, but I've also been shooting colour with it since it was summer not long ago here in Australia. This lens has a special love for me.

West Yorkshire Cameras had one of these on their website, new in yesterday at £999, and it's gone already. How I wish I'd bought one for £85, with M3 attached....
