what, if anything, is wrong with this?

Terrible feedback
No history of selling camera gear (his current auctions include an RC car, a Ford Festiva, and a powder jar)
No knowledge about cameras, which makes his claim that it is "fully functional" hard to believe
He also listed it as an SLR

I wouldn't have bid.

Flying with a "dumb banner":

1) "There are no dents or scratches; it apears to be mint"
but
2) "The camera is being sold as is because of its age."
and this rangefinder is...
3) "Camera Type SLR (Single Lens Reflex)"

It may give you an insight of what e-mail communication would be in the future. Just my impression.

On the positive side, "its" wasn't spelled "it's" 😱

To me one of the telling points I've seen several times on evil-bay is such as "Leica M-4 SLR". Anyone who would call an M an SLR certainly is NOT a camera expert!! But that admission seems to crop up all the time, especially for brokers who are selling for estates.

I think one of the best pieces of advice regarding e-b is to read the feedback from previous buyers. I've seen it said that anything under 97% positive is a questionable deal. Check out how many responses there are and how they stack up. If there are 3-400 or so responses and 98% positive, the seller should be reliable. But when you're buying used, youcan't expect guarantees.

asidefrom the item might not be in good working order...

how do you all read that, at least in one incident, the buyer of this seller never received the item? and the seller wants only money order or check. no credit card payment option aywhere.
