Hi,
I just replaced a broken ribbon of my 1952 Kiev 2 with one that was for Kiev 88. It is a bit too wide. The camera works fine at higher speeds, but the shutter is sluggish at slower speeds due to the friction on the slot.
So where do you guys found the original Contax-Kiev ribbons? Thanks.

Does that mean, Daniel, that your shutter problem is fixed or on the way to being set right?

If you can't get Kiev ribbon, try increasing spring tension about 2 turns .... don't go any farther than that. I get good performance out of Contaxes using a non-standard ribbon that is slightly thicker than the original, by slightly increasing the spring tension.

I bought recently from Alex photo goods, and against my suspictions the Arsenal ribbons are in new shape. Fedka is selling the Arsenal originals too.

The identifying feature of Customs is that there's nothing one can do but calm down...

Hello Ruben,
Thanks for the information. The ribbon for Chinese Pearl River S207 shutter is right in size. I will try some local repairmen first to see if I can find some. These thing are very expensive even from Oleg.
