I used an R72 and it does get a real IR effect, but its slow (around ISO 3 w/filter). These are tests (pardon the dust!) and the sky and water go real black, so any tips are welcome, but I do know they are not fine art! (need more clouds!) Processed for 7minutes in T_Max, Mamiya 7II/65mm...

Thanks for the comment!
I think it will be nice with more IR reflective subjects than these. I have tried the Rollei 400 (one roll so far). Following is about as good as I got with the Rollei. It isn't bad, and its faster, but I think I like the Efke better.
If only HIE was still available in roll film!

Those are fantastic. I'm amazed at how little grain is apparent, in many other IR films it is almost overwhelming (I've seen some shots that look like Delta 3200 in Rodinal).
I love the third (cows) image (compositionally, though I do like the tones of the Efke films a little more).

I would love to put a roll of this film through my Holga, but at $10 a roll it isn't exactly the most economical film to shoot...

gdi,
David Romano sells 70mm Kodak Infared B&W 2424, re-spooled with 120/paper backing.
I have ten rolls of it right now, in my freezer. Same emulsion as -35mm HIE-.

Thanks for the comments - I hope you guys can try some of this as well. It would be good to gather some group experience regarding exposure, filters etc.
BTW, the recommended rating on the data sheet was ISO 6, but I found I liked the +1 exposures best - so my 3 rating. Tripod only for F8!

I have been testing the Efke in 120 ever since Kodak HIE was discontinued. I'm using it in a Mamiya 7 with the 43mm lens and B+W 092 filter. I'm getting correct exposures around ASA 1. That's like f8 at 2 seconds in bright sun. While this is slow it does resemble Kodak HIE in its glow and contrast. I have posted some tests on my Flickr site:

OK you guys have inspired me to put some infrared film through the GW690 - I have some Efke and SFX on the way from Freestyle, and a Hoya R72 coming from B&H.
Noob question - between the anti-halation layer on these emulsions and the paper backing on 120 roll film, how much do I need to worry about loading in the dark?
Tech question - anyone have suggestions for developing times for these films in DDX when rated at ISO 1-3? The MDC suggests 10-11 minutes with the Efke rated at 12 and the SFX rated at 200.

I never bother to load in the dark, bit of an old wives tale. I shoot I.R. with a Nikon f65 it's supposed to fog the film, no problems as yet.

The issue with 35mm IR and dark loading was due to the question of whether the felt light trap on the cassette was IR safe.

I like this film, too. I have to use EI .5 though, with HC-110, R72. My shots at EI 3 were too thin:
