....found out the "hard way" that I really need to pay attention to the settings (shutter speed) despite the useability of the lightmeter. Although it suggests proper exposure, there's no alert (a la digi-SLR or otherwise) when the shutter speed dips below the hand-holding threshold...shot nearly a roll before I realized I was clicking along at 1/2 s. But I had the perfect exposure "dot!"

Also, that film rewind crank has to be ALL THE WAY EXTENDED to rewind properly. Halfway down, it winds nothing. So don't open the back til the number gets to zero.

Guess that's my "Stupid Tax" driving out to Sam's, waiting for 45 minutes, and the aggravation of missing shots....granted, not of anything good as I'm just learning this MP (I do love it).

note to self, the lens cap isn't see thru either.

trials and tribulations of a greenhorn. been shooting rf's for 30 years and haven't done any of those mistakes for 29 years, NOT!!!!!!!

Haven't left the lens cap on yet, but I did forget to focus a Bessa several times ....waiting....waiting...waiting for the autofocus to kick in.

Scale focusing isn't autofocusing. Just a few rolls into the Bessa L, but still... snap a nice shot (I always remember to set the exposure properly) only to realize the subject is 3 feet away and I'm focused on infinity.

Yeah, that and wondering why I don't see the focusing patch until I realize I'm looking through an accessory viewfinder.

Just so I don't appear to be a total dweeb, I did get some ok shots from the first roll....

Regarding the "leaving lens cap on" mistake, I have caught myself a couple of times in the last few months but I found that I was always able to catch it because of the light meter. It will keep blinking. Doesn't anyone find this useful in helping to avoid leaving your lens cap on when using the MP?

Same for me: more then once found my M6's metering indication helpful hinting to get lens cap off before shooting.

Love the shots. The colors look great!

I dont own a Leica but I sure wish I do... I'm traveling to SF in a few weeks and I'm seriously planning on putting some color film through my camera and shooting a few rolls in color.

I'm excited. :)

Thanks! Good luck with your SF shoot,

That guy in the picture actually asked "Is that a Leica?" which was a neat experience. It was the first time someone had recognized my gear, other than "gosh that sure is a big camera," referring of course the massive dSLR boat anchor around my neck. A lady actually came up beside me when I was shooting the asparagus and cocked her head as if trying to envision what the picture would look like ("is there a picture in there?...hmmm....)

Guess I should add to my "notes to self" that I need to anticipate what I'm gonna be shooting and pay attention to what I've got in the camera, 'cause that's actually the wrong film for that environment--Kodak 400UC, way to saturated for midday outdoors in the summer....I had to torque down the saturation to get back some of the detail in the strawberries.

As long as I'm adding, I guess I used the wrong lens, too, Ultron 28mm; would've been better with the 50/2.....

Probably the best 2 reasons I can think of for having a "backup" with different film and lens at the ready....

"Um....Honey?"
