Well - Just finished developing some Ilford Pan F 50 in freshly cooked D76. First time using d76 AND pan F, and I managed to forget to dilute the d76 to the 1:1 ratio - just put in as straight stock :bang:
I only realised this a quarter of the way through development of course.

So I ran to the computer, went to the ilford site and looked up an "improvised" developing time for the stock d76, and ran back just in time to complete the next 10 seconds of agitation.

It's drying in the shower as I type - I get the feeling it will be one of those rolls where it'll either be really suprisingly nice or really bad. Either way the old scan dual IV is primed and ready to scan, and I'll post up a scan in a few minutes.

Not really heaps of point to this thread, I just wanted to share and maybe get some feedback on the development.

Wow - nerves of steel! Good luck!

And hey - what time is it?

Chris it's getting late thats for sure! It's about 1:10am over here in Brisbane.
I'm about a quarter of the way through scanning, and so far they're actually pretty good. I'm still posting up some scans when i'm finished

Go to bed and scan tomorrow.

Ah the night is young my friend, and I have nothing on tomorrow (saturday) :D
In fact a car I'm building at the moment is being delivered from being rewired at midday, and I know it's going to be murder waiting for it if I wake up early... Theres nothing wrong with a little sleeping in!

Woo - I like what I see

Okay all done with the scanning and dust taking outing
I'm really happy with the film - it's very very nice basically and I'll be using it again. The pics have been run through lightroom with minor contrast adjustments and some basic toning. Camera used was Olympus OM2n with both zuiko 28 3.5 and a 55 1.2

The shadow areas area a little blocked up but when I get prints done I'll open them up a little bit. Comments or user pics with Pan F 50 are very welcome!

Cheers,
Gavin

They're all excellent pictures there - I particularly like the beach photo. I've just shot a roll of Pan F (first time as well) but I haven't developed it. I'm really looking forward to it now!

Thanks very much! Do post up some results here when you're done - I'm really enjoying the film at this point, and d76 as well.

PanF is a nice film, I got 350ft in the freezer, but it can be a bit constrasty at times. During the RFF Euromeet in Paris I shot a few rolls of PanF at EI25 and souped them in Rodinal 1+100 for about 12min (20% less than normal).

I think they turned out pretty good, check the link in my signature for more (mixed shots from PanF and APX100). The one below is PanF @EI25 and a CV25/4 under the Arc de Triomphe.

Hi Gavin - wake up!

You did good work last night! I really like the open-aperture shots with the Zuiko - great bokeh and nice compositions too. And the model - yep.

There was a good thread on PAN-F a while ago, right here.

Here's one of my favourites from my first roll of PAN-F.

EmilGil, I love how you've managed to control the contrast on that shot - next thing I have to work on is that.

Chris - Thats a great reflection! I agree though - the zuiko 55 1.2 has a lot of bad stigmas with this and that but I've found it really great in the time I've had it.

I didn't realise quite how contrasty this film is - I used LC29 to develop it, not a great idea. There's not much shadow detail that my flatbed scanner could pick out (although I could see it on the negatives, I need a better scanner).

Anyway, here's a couple of photos from my first ever roll of Pan F. I'm not sure if I'd use it again, I still prefer the 'look' of HP5 (scans well, great latitude, not too contrasty).

Both nice photos. I really like the first best. I think the extra contrast works well there, making us look more at the entrances that any other part. The light at the bottom and the dark show some detail, but not enough to really pay attention to. It that wasn't your intent, sorry. But I think it is better this way.

Thanks very much. The first one does work very well with the high contrast, and the second one isn't harmed by it. Some of the other shots I took on the film didn't work out so well where I was expecting a more HP5 response.

Thankyou very much though, always nice to have comments on your photos.
