Hey, I'm from Montreal!
...Of course, I moved away when I was three years old.
I still go back at least once a year though, and really like it as a city, even if the Francophone population is snobby.

Yeah Monkland is a cool little pocket over in the west end of town.

merci...
if any of you are in the hood (westmount) drop into the claremont cafe and say bonjour! i'll fix ya up with an ale (or four).
monkland is a cool little neck of the woods. i love taking a stroll in the evening down sherbrooke west into the heart of ndg... endless material!
this weekend i'm gonna roll down to st henri and "grit it up".

a cafe (which takes even more guts). my friend has been behind the wheel for a few years and has been begging me to come join in so... well we did. hopefully we will open number two in three years and i can finally afford an m8 (though never a bad word be said about my m6 or r-d1s). it really is a very, very cool town. though i must ask what's up with the roads?

1/ you lucky. I wish I hadn't moved out of Montreal and could move back right now (working on it, I swear)
2/ Try L.L.Lozeau, plazza St-Hubert up on the plateau. That's the biggest photo store in town. Sometime disappointing but they may have what you want.
3/ Saint-Henri: I live in that neighborhood. That's actually where we have the shoot with the models that week-end.
4/ If you sell your RD-1, let me know.

Tell me about it! They've got to be the worst in Canada. There's no easy answer to why they are as they are, but it has something to do with weather, taxes, joie de vivre, unions, bidding processes, etc.emraphoto said:though i must ask what's up with the roads?
Or more likely, it's just Ottawa's fault!

I head up to Montreal every chance I get. After living in NYC it and Montreal the only cities I can ever imagine living in.
I got my first Leica at Camtec on Notre Dame est. Jean B. (Bardjie or something like that) is great- and a wealth of knowledge Leica.
Next time I'm up (need a passport soon, so it will have to be sooner) I'll hunt you down.
