When I sent my early m6 to leica for repair the Lietz red dot was Removed and replaced with Leica red dot. My pal says it changes the
collector value? is that really true?

To calibrate the M6's rangefinder removal of the dot is necessitated; I guess they just found it easiest to put a new dot on as opposed to preserving the original Leitz one.
I'm not sure on the value of this slight anachronism, though.

Was your early M6 collector grade to start with? Mint? Boxed? If you've been using it to take pictures, probably not. It probably doesn't make much difference.

Cosmic Charlie, How Do You Do?

A lot of big nuts prefer the "Leitz" dot on the Wetzlar M6 cameras, including myself. I would say you got gypped.

Go home, your mama's callin you.

Nog, I will just sail around in my paper canoe with my beater m6

Say you'll come back when you can
Whenever your airplane happens to land
Maybe I'll be back here too
It all depends on what's with you

I've never managed to remove a red dot without destroying it.

Don Goldberg did that OK with my early M6, but in answer to the OPer's OP, I don't think I'd worry at all about collector value. Even never-opened-still-sealaed-in-the-box-we-had-to-Xray-the-box-to-prove-there's-a-camera-in-it M6s don't collect that huge a premium.
