like I needed another 50, for a Nikon slr no less! But I couldn't put down an early non-Ai, non-aperture compensating micro-Nikkor 55 f3.5 Nippon Kogaku lens. I already have the next version 55 f3.5 compensating aperture micro lens. The lens I got today is better at macro, the one I already had is a better normal lens.

Wow! That's not really another 50 at all Frank, That's a better 50 than any 50 for macro.

I have this very lens- it really is stunning close-up. One of the 4 SLR lenses I kept.
It's companions are:
50/1.8 AiS (2nd version- tiny & light)
25~50 AiS (still need the hood)
70~180D (micro zoom, a very under-rated lens)

Kiu, mine is a later one, like those from 1963 pictured at that website. The name ring is closer to the front element. I guess the early one would have been a bettter find?

Hey Frank, Don't beat yourself up! I would have bought that lens if I saw it at a thrift store, and I don't even own a Nikon. I wouldn't consider it a duplicate. Good find.

Nikon SLR film cameras are CHAEP these days...RF is not too bad either.

You are right. My most expensive camera is the Spotmatic kit with 2 Super Takumar lenses, 1 Mamiya Sekor lens, all the hoods and cases for the lenses, and a black leather case that holds all of that stuff, it was 50.00 US. I since bought the Super Tak. 50mm F 1.4 from David Murphy here. None of the other cameras were over $30.00. My wife says I am cheap... I prefer to say frugal.

Speaking of F cameras, there is an F2 with standard lens and Nikkor F2.8 135mm tele. on auction now at shopgoodwill.com. The current bid is 224.00 and a day to go. They also are auctioning an F3. I would probably be looking for a nice Barnack style Canon RF or a Canon P if I was going to spend that amount. I like the style and size of the rangefinders. If I ever got to handle an F2 I might change my mind though.
