Hi All,

Recently I picked up (from Go Kevin! Cameras) a nice Canon Lens mount Converter B. This fits nicely onto my Canon Lens Mount Converter A. Both together, and you can put M42 screw lenses onto the M39 thread bodies. Cool!

So, now I am thinking about getting a Russian 16mm Zenitar, to mount onto my Bessa-L, and use with the 20mm Russar finder, which I also just picked up.

Another good choice would be the Pentax 17mm Fisheye Takumar, although it's a bit more $$$.

Has anybody used the 16mm Zenitar this way? Or should I hold out for the Takumar?

Dan,
Hold out for the Takumar ... send me an offer via pm. (see my later posting below)

I use a Canon 7.5mm lens with the Adapter B on LTM bodies. I am not sure whether the Zenitar or Pentax is better suited for your needs. I happen to own a very hard to find Pentax 17mm lens in K mount. It is not in M42 mount. There are more 17mm Pentax lenses available in M42 mount than in K mount.

I sometimes use a Zenitar 16mm fisheye in M42 mount on my M mount R-D1 (through a M42-LTM and LTM-M adapter).

I use it together with the VF of a CV 15/4.5.

It works. Getting the focus right, and getting proper exposure, are often not easy. It helps to have a handheld light meter and trust that instead of the internal light meter readings. Focus isn't difficult when you set it infinity, but when it comes to closer focus, things can get spotty.

All in all, I don't use the Zenitar very much but it has its purposes.
