Raid's recent exposition of his Konica cameras made me think about the range of cameras out there which have 1:1 viewfinders. This is a very remarkable feature of a rangefinder camera, in my opinion, since it can aid focusing and composing. Perhaps we could come up with a list of rangefinders which have 1:1 viewfinders.

I shall start with the most obvious example: the Bessa R3A.

Can we add the widest framelines, too, please ?

I find that the most spectacular feature of my "new" Canon P is the
1:1 finder in combo with 35mm framelines.

Best,

Roland.

I wasn't sure whether later Nikons had the 1:1 finder.

Frankly, as a glasses wearer, I don't find the 1:1 very useful. With the Canon P I really have to look around the edges of the finder to see the 35mm framelines. Lower magnification with wider angle framelines works better for me.

I'm in the same boat, the caveat being that I'm pretty comfortable at this point about where the framelines *should* be. So I just wing it, and if I have to, crop slightly to compensate. Using two eyes open framing that works pretty well for me.

For the most part, if I'm that worried about the precise framing while shooting, i'm using the wrong camera anyway. But that's just me.

I love the 1:1 RF on my R-D1s. But as left eye shooter I get the two-eyes-aerial-image only for vertical shots. Horizontal shots are made with a thumb in the right eye and the nose on the LCD... 🙁

You need to get that fixed.

Seriously, I haven't gotten used to shooting with the off eye open yet. I feel I'm missing out.

The R-d1s has 35, 50 and 90 mm lines but they are corrected for the 1.5x crop so the lines actually measure 1.5 x fl

The RD-1(and rd-1s) has 28mm 35mm and 50mm frame lines that correspond to 42mm 53mm and 75mm.

Steve
