Slow learner,but keen!
Going through my boxes earlier this week,I came across my original Fed 4,a gift to me in the 80's,which a friend had used from new and passed on to me to learn about aperture/shutter speeds/exposure etc.It is functioning ok,the shutter seems fine although a little 'wheezy' when setting the slower speeds.Focussing and the rangefinder are good.
On the down side the exposure meter is dead, and the film counter arrangement is loosened and needs to be sorted out.
If any one would like this to play around with they would be welcome to have it.Preferably in the UK for postage cost reasons.
Cheers,
Brian

I have a 5b with curtains that are shot...would you be happy for it to donate curtains (I'm guessing they'd fit)? Or...why don't you keep it for spares? I do have a 4 in good nick so I could use it for parts.
Unless anyone else is a more deserving cause...

Especially since new curtains are available for $10 or so including shipping (e.g. 200121368894 on the Bay). I'm not sure whether you could even ship a FED-4B within the UK for that money

You wouldn't happen to have a FED 2 sitting around, Brian, would you?

No problem--just PM your address,
Brian.

No intention of ungluing them - I'd swap the drums and rollers and leave the curtains attached. The camera is still handy for parts even if that's not possible.Spyderman said:wolves: I wouldn't try to transplant curtains... they are often well glued and could suffer serious damage in the process of removing them from the FED-4...

With postage, that makes them more expensive than another 5B though...not economically worth doingrxmd said:Especially since new curtains are available for $10 or so including shipping (e.g. 200121368894 on the Bay). That's including shipping. Curtains are $5,50, shipping is $5.wolves3012 said:With postage, that makes them more expensive than another 5B though...not economically worth doing

Hi Payasam,
I've got a spare one you can have. People here have helped me with gear, so I'm happy to pass on the help to you - send me a PM with your address if you want it.You wouldn't happen to have a FED 2 sitting around, Brian, would you?

Parts are no use to me, Kim: wouldn't know what to do with them.
Oscroft, thanks. My greed is not morally justified. By rights, your spare FED 2 should go to someone who's just starting out and has no camera.

I will probably give away two fed-5 : 1 Fed-5C body (meterless) and 1 Fed-5 body (with uncoupled meter) & panda I61. I'll formally do this when I'll have money to ship the items. For now ... it's on hold until I get a job
