Rather than talk about my lens is better than your lens how about showing us. I'm not talking about cute pictures of your kids or your girlfiriend I want to see images that test and push the limits of the lens. I want to see high flare conditions, maximux apertures and shots that mean something. All current lenses perform well at one or two stops down and with the sun over your sholder but under tough conditions wide open with fine grain film and crops of the outer edges and center. None of this cute cudly stuff, let's get down to real photography and test these lenses under real conditions. Stop believing everything you read and find out for yourselves.

these threads do get tired after a while eh?
as rover says, i have what i want, i'm happy with what i have.
if i could change one thing it would be to have the luxury to add more time to my shooting schedule.

Solution to more shooting time, less time on the forum.

As Cmogi said: CV Glass is better then Leica Glass
I think he really did mean "then Leica glass" as in "old timey Leica glass", from then there back in the 19thirties/19forties etc.
And I think he has a point.
Of course, the then there glass has been bested over the decades that have intervened since then there.
So lets give the post a rest and wait for a better speller than ....

Ive never subscribed to the notion that one manufacturer has the best lenses in every focal length across their whole range. I have seen some blanket claims on this forum about Nikon lenses for example which are just absurd. (being crap that is) I have always felt that each manufacturer has made a couple of lenses that really excel over other makes. It always seems that Zeiss churns out the best 21mm lenses for example. Then you have the added complication of asking the question of Leica Vs Voigtlander but what vintage? The older Leica lenses have better build quality but not as good optically. But then you can argue that modern lenses can be a bit stark against the older ones as well. Voigtlander build quality hasnt be standardized over its short life although now I think market and enthusiasts demands seems to have brought the current Voigtlander lenses to a higher standard with a slight cost penalty. Then you could also factor in that the SC lenses have a higher build standard. The Heliar S for example has 60's Leica build quality something their own modern lenses dont achieve. And its optical performance praised as good as Leicas. So I think there are too many factors, Vintage, series, focal length, specific lenses (Like the Heliar 50mm f3.5) and special model lines to ever get a definitive answer. Joe's (Back Alley) method is the best, he tries literally everything and when it impresses or inspires him he keeps it or sells it on. I bet he has more than one brand of lens?

Im basically starting my entire kit over,
I'm taking the minimalist route
M6 and a 35 Biogon and a 50 Planar.
If I can scrounge enough money together after that I'm going to start hunting for a 75 lux.
1 Body and a 35-50-75 combo should be more then enough. At that point if I want another lens at one of those focal lengths I will have to sell the current one. I figure it's a smart plan.
Next I have to put my 90mm cron (55mm filter size with built in hood) 90mm Elmarit, and 135 Hektor up.
It's a little sad seeing all of them go...

My biogon and planar are two of my favorite of all time lenses plus the 25 Biogon. I use my 75 summilux a great deal and love the FL. it's basically replaced 75% of the use of my 90 apo. Overall the Zeiss are my favorite lenses with the CV and vintage Leitz second. With exceptions the newer Leica asph are at the bottom. I do love the images from my 50 asph summilux but the mechanical issues of more recent Leica lenses have destroyed my faith in the newer glass. Ypu should keep your 90 elmarit (v1?). It's my overall favorite 90.
