Bessa R's Going Going Soon Gone

The silver R's are beautiful cameras. I'm glad I was able to get mine. And the 35/2.5 color skopar imo was made for this camera. I love that combo. BTW look at my avator, the camera looks much better than my mug.

I love the R; a classic in my opinion. I bought 2 silver Rs -- one to use and one to use after the first has been used up.

I think it's a shame Cosina has abandoned the LTM mount. Imagine a new, LTM, R with the meter and build quality of the R3 or R4.

it's already here.

just leave the screw mount adapter on your current generation Bessa and use it as a screw mount camera.

That's right, lots of choice. My R2 used to wear its adapter ring permanently, i just screwed in my LTM lenses at will. Now it's a hybrid, the most used lenses have their own adapter mounts, part twist and my LTM lens is in, very lazy, but nice.

Not sure why everyone is so nostalgic about the silver R. I bought one when it first came out and found it was cheaply made and scratched my negs. Kind of like a disposable camera you can buy at any general store. Why not buy leica LTM for the almost the same price.

Wow, you must have really had a bad example. Mine have been great. I bought the first one used in 2005, and have put about a roll a week through it since then without a single unpleasant moment. It's not a Leica or a Nikkormat (my old FTn may be the best made thing I've ever seen), but I wouldn't describe it as cheaply or poorly built. Compared it to a LTM leica, it's got a much better viewfinder, frame lines, light meter, lever-wind, and is slightly easier to load. Not knocking Barnacks, but it's like comparing an antique prismatic compass with a GPS system.
