Hi

Did anyone catch this last week? Amateur Photographer magazine (UK) ran a 4 page review of the R4A which was very positive. Featured in the editorial too.

If anyone's interested I could provide a scan.

Without the magazine's permission that would be copyright infrindgment FYI.

Such rectitude! In the same helpful and virtuous spirit, you might like to read RFF Golden Rule 5 and remove the promotional signature links to your family firm :)

FYI :)

Cheers, Ian

Family Firm?

(Ever hear of Two wrongs don't make a right...)

Besides you'd think a forum of photographers would least understand let alone respect copyrights.

Essentially, that's bull. If it is a one-off, like a photocopy, no magazine, nor photographic agency will be battering your door down.

N a court you might be able to argue it's fair use - I can't tell you for definite, because although I've worked in copyright and the magazine business for aeons I've never heard of anyone being sued for a photocopy or a one-off scan.

Posting a scan on-line would be a different matter, yet I see Hollywood companies doing it all the time these days.

Please do ...

Please do ...

Well, yes - anyway, now the legalities have been dealt with, can we take you up on your kind offer and actually see what all the fuss was about?

Thanks in advance,
m.

yes

yes

Yes i was eagerly waiting for last weeks issue to drop through the door and it is indeed a big nod for the R4a a real indepth report

I got that issue the other day and promptly read the article. However, some of the images the author created show extreme corner vignetting, but he failed to mention anything about it. Strange!

He did mention it, implied it didn't bother him!

The corner vignetting has nothing to do with the R4A, at most it may be due to a lens. I have had the R4A for almost 6 months, and this camera is SOOO versatile... I have shot lenses between 21/50 mm with no external viewfinders, and I use glasses ! True, when I have to use the 50mm I apply the 1.35 vf mag on it. I just got my 21/4.5 C Biogon, and this lens on the R4A is a perfect marriage, although I think in conventional fast use, the best fl set up is with a compact 28mm.

God sorry guys just checked in again today. No I wasn't spooked by the legalities of this but rather more occupied in the last few days getting ready to sue my builder for incompetence! I promise to scan it this weekend and get it up.
Yeah, some heavy vignetting visible on some of the pics - the focus of the review was on extreme wide angle so there is a lot of barrel distortion.

You don't have to post the entire article

just post some interesting quotes from it, the gist of the review or perhaps the conclusion... and provide the adequate citation

I am interested and we don't receive the magazine here in the states (or at least in upstate NY)

Hi just a little update the author has made this statment in this weeks issue.

**I feel that i should apologise for the exaggerated vignetting in the pictures on the final page of the R4a test. For some reason the scans had very high contrast, which overemphasised the corner shading.I hope this reprint appears as a more realistic representation.**
