Price Increase on Leica M Wides Soon?

Not long ago I posted about a possible M8 price increase which turned out to be true.

The latest behind the scenes price increase speculation involves possible price hikes on the Leica M wides.

True or not, we will likely find out within several months.

It's almost funny how we don't seem to talk about or notice Leica R SLR price increases. Rumor mill has it that Leica is working on a new digital R body.

I DID notice that B&H raised their price on the 28 Elmarit 2.8 from $1495 to $1595 last week. And of course that huge increase for the WATE before that.

With the dollar in freefall price increases on imported camera gear are pretty much inevitable.

that is curious that R system stuff doesn go up in price isnt it? I sure hope the new R body is full frame and of the R6.2 form factor rather then the R9. The other day I was tinkering with a Nikon FM3a and wondered why they dont make a digital camera into a body style like that, classic, simple, perfect.

My thoughts exactly! The R9 was a monster! The pro Canon and Nikon's at least feel better in the hand but they're still massive. Now, a digi FM3a / FM2 would be great.

People are also saying that Leica R are going to go auto focus... 😱
