Really cool looking and rare M3

Unusual camera ... a few burred looking screws etc but ultra rare I guess! I love that advance lever! 😱 😀

It will be interesting to follow the auction and see the final price! 😛

pretty cool. That button looked to me like it could do one of three things.

a> etrigan's answer of checking that the film is in the tracks.
b> mark a frame with a dent/pinprick so you can reference it later.
c> hold the film in place so you can wind on without advancing for double exposure.

I'm betting b.

Anyone want to wager on what the highest bid will be?
With the standing bid already around $1600, and with a whole 8-days-and-change to go, all I can think of is a tag-line for a certain horror movie of recent vintage: "Oh, yes, there will be blood.". 😱

Think I'm going mark this one under "watch" and make some popcorn to sit back and witness the last 45 minutes of bidding.

It's going to be expensive, thats for sure...

I like this part. "Therefore if this camera will be used the certain has to be replaced." Do you think it'll ever leave the bank vault once the buyer recieves it??? 🙄

I wonder what the chances of buying something like this and having it go backwards in value are ... and will paypal insurance cover the sale? 😛

Really interesting....I haven`t seen one of these since like 1992 in Germany!!!!

I say it doesn`t reach reserve, or if it does the reserve`s around, hmmmm well I`d say $20,000+ maybe even as high as $30k? (prototyoe prices are hard to fix really depends if the right person sees this and it`s gone)

Tom

PS: Rare M3 anything is a soild investment, not like the IIIG was back in the late 80`s and 90`s, they have fallen back considerably.....rare M stuff has remained stable

Pretty good, actually. Two reasons: Firstly, old cameras are like old stamps - worth something because people are willing to pay something. It's a buyer-dependent market. Secondly, the eBay effect of irrational bidding behaviour and price jumps during the last twenty seconds is almost going to guarantee a price over the market value on highly-coveted items.

If it is so rare and unusual, and can command such a High price, I find it surprising that the seller would put it on the Bay. Surely there are a finite number of people who would be willing to pay for such a rare specimen and they would go through registered dealers???.

Although I guess if you put a reserve that you are happy with then it's a low risk option.
