Really cool looking and rare M3

Thats about 3/4 of the way down the description and in the picture with the rear door open you can see the punch and the hole in the body just below the film rail where the punch goes into.

Ah, I missed that - thanks!

My high-speed is finally working today so I can see all the pics now - what a stunner. Too bad that it'll be much too valuable to actually take out and use!

Whoever buys this, trashes the spool and puts in a quick load kit, puts snake leather on it and repaints it in bright yellow gets a free cookie from me ;)

it's interesting to see the design changes they went through to arrive at the original ds m3. they really ironed out all the kinks, didn't they?

What I find interesting is how this M3 prototype confirms that the Contax II was the camera Leica was trying to surpass (look @ the Contax-style shutter release).

Reading that made my night - thanks Philipp!

if you click on the bids you'll see the first bid was $5 (not me). can't blame a guy for trying!

Classic Camera did a write up on that camera a couple of years ago. As they were prototype test cameras I assume that would account for all the burred up screws-the camerra was probably apart 1000 times. Stu

Whoo Hoo! $70K and counting. Reserve not met. Reserve $75K??? Guess this indicates: a) it won't be a "user", and b) it is easier to get $70K+ than it is to get a pre-production Leica M3..and still four days left--wow! Wonder if the winning bidder needs a lens to go with that??? :)
