Hi,
I am too lazy to email Zeiss to find an answer to this question, but does anyone know where I can get my Ikon serviced in Southern California? Or will I have to mail it somewhere else?
As a result of a drunken mishap, I have knocked my rangefinder patch out of alignment and it will no longer reach infinity. I like rangefinder photography, but the delicate nature of the Ikon is sooooo annoying. This is the second time it has been out of alignment. The first was in Japan and it was under warranty, so no problem, but now I am worried that the issue will be more difficult and expensive to solve.
It would be best if someone could post directions and photos on how to do it yourself. I fear that this is going to be an on-going problem and loath the thought of mailing it somewhere, once or twice a year, to get looked at.
Thanks,
Jim

Try Tony Rose at Popflash.com
His outfit is located in Thousand Oaks, CA.
I dont know if he actually has a storefront (pretty sure he does not) but he is a super reliable dealer and I know that he can take care of some repairs for sure.
If he cant do it himself, I'm certain he will know who can.
BTW, you have some great photos on your flickr!

Thanks a lot! I'll try and get in contact with Tony. My girlfriend's parents live in Thousand Oaks, so I can kill two birds - steal their food and get my camera looked at.

Oh btw, I've been asking a lot of people this lately but what color is your ZI?
Could you post photos of it too? Im having a huge hard time trying to decide which finish (black or silver) to get.

I just brought my Zeiss-Ikon Contaflex into Walter's Camera Repairs and was very pleased with his service. He is an old time, experienced technician who operates out of a little building near Chinatown at:
811 West Cesar Chavez , Los Angeles CA 90012
He took one look at my camera, that I had bought for $45 on eBay as "fully functional" (the shutter was stuck) and told me this was repairable. He held up an auto-focus Nikon lens and said, "This is plastic junk. Zeiss is the best."
