Any possibility of new Mamiya 7 lenses?

I really like my Mamiya 7. The only thing that is keeping me from unloading my Canon 7 and all my LTM lenses is that there just isn't any fast glass available for the Mamiya 7. I know that this lens line has been added to over the years. How likely (or unlikely) is it that Mamiya would develop a faster lens for the 7, 7II line? Is it asking for that much that we get something faster than f/4?! :(

i don't think there will be any new lenses. it is a rf, anything wider than 45 (~21mm on 35mm) and longer than 210 is not appealing (~150mm?). the viewfinder will become impossible to see; larger the error of focusing; have to give up portability; etc...

f4 is not slow by any means, even Canon or Nikon SLR constant aperture zoom lenses are f4. In addition, there is no preview, so it doesn't matter when focusing. DOF distant mark on MF is more useful, with minimum focus distant a meter away, one stop faster wouldn't be easily detected.

If you really like M7, I'd collect all lenses and mint bodies. Since there are limited numbers of lenses and accessories, getting a full system within budget is reachable.

(disclaimer: I am selling M7ii soon, but no for reason of lacking functions but to finance a FF digital SLR. I am waiting for reviews but hopefully soon.)

My hope was that Mamiya (or a third party) would produce something faster that is close to normal length. Yea, the lens I'm invisioning would overlap with something in the current line-up, probably the 80mm. I really think that this would be a good seller, despite not having a focal length niche all to itself.

I can't see any new lenses since this is such a low production camera. That is if Mamiya is ever going to build another production run when the last one sells out.

I suspect a lens faster than f4 would be 1) very difficult to focus, 2) very heavy, 3) very very expensive, and thus 4) be limited to incredibly small sales.

If Mamiya did not produce one back when MF was selling well, they sure are not going to produce it now.

New lenses for any film-only MF platform seem very unlikely. Not RF, but if you like fast 6x7 lenses look at the Pentax 67 ... f2.8 is available in the 75mm ASPH, 90mm, 150mm, and 165mm, there's f3.5 in the older 55mm and the 120mm Soft, and of course there's the speedy f2.4 105mm lens. FWIW all these lenses are equally usable (with auto diaphragm) on the P645 system too with an adapter.
