Hello people.

Any suggestions on a reliable lens repair within the EU?
I have an older version 90/2 summicron that was consistently frontfocusing on every frame where i had f/4 or wider; yesterday i checked with the film gate open and there is about 10 cm of error at the closest distance.

I'd like to hear, of course, about the services that are
1.the most reliable
2.the fastest and
3.the cheapest :D
Your story and details would be welcome too (e-mail address or website of them)
-i'm in the Netherlands-

thanks

Hello,

I have very good experience with http://www.fotomechanik-reinhardt.de/ .
Mr Reinhardt did a perfect job on my old pre-war 9cm Elmar. Turnaround time was about two weeks.
He is running the repair shop with his wife, the daughter of the previous owner Mr Kielgas. Both are very nice persons to deal with.

Best regards,
Uwe

In Germany many people recommend Kameraservice Olbrich in Görlitz. They enjoy an outstanding reputation for work on East German lenses, but they do a good job generally, and fairly cheaply. They actually have a centering table and can correct lens decentering as well in older lenses. They have a somewhat non-informative website at http://www.mon.de/dd/foto-olbrich/home.htm; the address is Emmerichstr. 17, 02826 Görlitz, telephone & fax is +49-3581-401241; e-mail is foto-olbrich/at/t-online/dot/de.

Personally I have good experience with Kameraservice Ostkreuz in Berlin (they manage not to have a web site; address is Neue Bahnhofstraße 6, 10245 Berlin, phone is +49-30-2913626. They repaired a couple of Zeiss lenses for Pentacon Six for me.

In the Netherlands there is Heinz Roskam in Leiden (http://www.roskamoptics.nl/) who also does some work on camera lenses; I've got an MC Flektogon from him that is an outstanding lens.

In the Netherlands you also got Will van Manen in Zoetermeer, I know HuubL here on RFF sent him a number of cameras with good results. I'm probably sending him a lens for CLA in a few weeks. http://www.kamera-service.info

In the UK you'll find CRR Luton, one of the most reknown Leica repairshops in the world (useless website and usually no replies to email but give them a ring) http://www.angelfire.com/biz/Leica/

Will is very quick. I live nearby and I brought my cameras myself. In both cases that I dealt with him he did the job in 2-3 days.

PS. To see how he delivers: check out "M2 + 50mm Summilux" in my slide show underneath (click the gear shot in my signature)
