Epson has announced a replacement for the R1800 printer - the R1900. There is a preview on the photo-i web site.
I also notice that this model and the R2400 are both being offered with $100 rebates. If Epson follows its usual pattern this means that the models are being phased out. Since the R1800 replacement has already been announced I'm guessing that the other model will be replaced as well.
The biggest failing of the R2400 seems to be the need to change the black cartridge when using different paper surfaces. Several competitors now keep both blacks available so this would seem like a good thing for Epson to address.
As I said I have no real news so this is all speculation...
