Wanted to releather my late model Fed 3, but akshi only had Fed 2 & Fed 5 coverings.
Anyone knows if any of these would fit my Fed 3?

Mr. Asahi is probably the best person to ask.

I'm holding off re-covering my Zorki 1 because removing the original covering is likely to be a messy affair.

I've successfully used some stuff called "J.W.'s paint remover" made in the USA, that is some kind of non-chemical (organic/ citrus or as the Europeans like to call "green") remover It works like a champ--has no fumes and won't burn the skin (however, don't drink it). In about 8 hrs. after application w/ a brush, the vinyl covering just peels off. I've used it on 23 cameras w/o fail.

Yyyyyyyyyyyep-- I admit it's true. But after Last Saturday, I won't tell you what university I graduated from.

The Fed 2 type may fit. The Fed 5 is quite different. If the Fed 2 one doesn't fit, it may well be possible to alter it so it does. Another alternative is to cut your own. It is not that difficult once you have have leather. For the adhesive, Jon Goodman used to do some very good adhesive which was perfect. Not sure if he does it now, you would have to check. I still have some together with some calf leather which is ideal if you get stuck.

If its a Fed 3L, the Fed 5 would be the best fit, not the Fed2, I have all three cameras. Get leather from Microtools and use the old coverings as a template. Thats what I did.

It would be awsome to shine alittle with a new skin. Maby i will get an older Zorki and try it on. What can possible happen, because i may be doing it the house will burn down ;)
