HSI did you buy those that way or is that your handiwork? If it's all you, who are you and what do you shoot? Would love to hear.

"I, too, suspect that Erwitt's Leica has been customized. Brassing should only occur where the camera comes in contact with another object, i.e. skin or strap. Notice where it is brassed on the front and top. It is in areas normally not handled."
Agreed. Never noticed that before, good observation. Also that, on the top, all the text is still unbrassed, while all around it is totally brassed.
Still lovely but faked.

Bingo, that's what Erwitt did. Artificially brassed his M3 for bragging rights at online forums
Grab your Leica in palm in the middle, hope it's more clear now.

Oh please. Elliott Erwitt, a really busy photographer, took time to fake his cameras? For whom? Why?Stoneaxe said:"I, too, suspect that Erwitt's Leica has been customized. agreed, how i handle my camera i actually have far more brassing on the top and bottom than on the front by where the index finger would go like those who cry faked would suggest. I would only assume Erwitts brassing is real due to how mine is currently going.

Doubt it. Use a camera bigtime for 50 years and brassing is bound to happen.
