What do you folks use for padding when you carry your Nocts and 75 lux big lens around?

I'm used to using the neoprene drink holders with zip tops with some bubble wrap inside a domke and under the lens in a domke bag, but these lenses are too big for the neoprene socks.

Anything crafty from Walgreens, Longs, or home depot??

Hi Ted,
Mine's stuck to an M3, and won't come off, so I just have it in a bag. Something's wrong when a rangefinder lens won't fit in a neoprene beer holder.....

Since when did you have a Noct?
If I'm super anal I put the Lux back in the case it comes with, but most often it gets it own slot in a domke insert, I don't carry a lot of gear.
I bought these lens wraps which I use for a lens or body when I throw it in a backpack or I'm travelling with way too much gear, I don't know what they're called but it's like a burrito, works really well.
I'l try to find out what brand they are.

Hi Mike

Hi Mike

Well it's not exactly a 12oz can holder, they're for something smaller that I got on sale at a Longs near me. I'm not sure what they're for actually, some have zippers, some have string ties at the top, all have obnoxious printings on the outsides which I think is why they were on sale.

Yeah Carl, that slipped by me. Your Noctilux came Ted? Carl's going to want to hang out with you now.....

pretty recently

It's the latest model 11822/E60 with telescoping built on hood. Just holding the thing pointing towards the dim light indoors has me stopping it down, the aperture blades are huge.

It's a bunch of egotistical arrogent art students, they all want to see themselves :)

I'l trade you my M8 for the noct? ;)
but seriously, We should all get together this weekend...

Sounds good

Sounds good

Saturday afternoon is busy, how is Sunday?

So how do you gauge DOF (on the full frame film), do you use dofmaster? What's the Coc?

Sunday works, maybe you guys can help me with the creative process for my finals because I'm stuck.
Regarding DOF, I just cross my fingers and surprise myself haha

ok

ok

Take a look at my abstract driving photos on my smugmug site. If your teacher doesn't give you an A with those, then you should change schools :p

Ahh. Performance art. ;) As for something creative, you could always develop your photos in pee or something.

As of now Sunday works for me. Ted, if you couldn't find the right insert, you could always make something out of neoprene.

So is anyone up for this? I'd prefer somewhere near a bart, or else down on the peninsula. Sun forecast in SF is partly sunny, 10% chance of precip.

Hi Ted,

I'm free Sunday for a few hours starting around lunch time.

What did you have in mind?

I've been busy lately, and I feel the need to go photograph something. :)

I have a shoot on sunday, but should be able to do lunch or a night thing.
Another vote for close to BART please, no car here.

Hey guys, just to throw out a suggestion, how about meeting in front of the SF Ferry Building or inside the Ferry Building at Peet's Coffee, then having lunch somewhere in that area. There should be plenty of photo ops there too, and it's close to BART.

What do you think?

I think I'll be able to make lunch, but will need to head out in the afternoon. I'm busy of course unless Ted or Carl or John (fotofool) brings a 75mm summilux. :p
