just saw this on that website where people sell things and can't believe that it's up to almost $600 and still 2.5 days left on this item which YOU CAN'T EVEN use.
am i reading the listing wrong or do this "mint" m4 and lens NOT WORK?

I have friends who collect Leica displays like this one. It is a dummy, essentially a hollow shell, but hey, different strokes!
it's a dummy camera
no insides
made for window displays
for thieves to steal a non working and less expensive camera

Could you buy it and use the parts to fix up your beat up one?

If you have the parts you can make this camera into a working camera.

Lets face it you can't take a bad picture with this camera! How valuable is that?

Given the quality of pictures that a lot of Leica shooters make, it's a blessing that it's got no insides..
And I'm an authority in these kind of things, cause I've got an M4 myself

For, aahhh, collectors to buy an expensive and non working less expensive camera. There, fixed that for you.

And it would look great with one of those expensive empty boxes...

can be converted into one very expensive and 'stealthy' pin hole camera... ;P

I wonder how much a Leica technician would charge to get it working?
It could be a good way to get a new old camera.

Well, some people buy even more expensive working camera's and still don't use it. Better buy a non working camera and not use it instead of an even more expensive working camera and not using it. It is just a matter of economics.

I like the idea of a collector trying to impress his friends: "And this one doesn't even function as a picture-taking device!"

Watch that step!

This is a Atrappe "Factory Dummy" camera specially made for camera store displays, so if someone broke into the store and stole it they stole a non-op camera
These are worth alot more as-is and NO ONE ever coverts them to a working camera, that`s not a practial or wise decision, these normally sell really well in Europe, (mostly in auctions) it seems the collectors are krazy about these over there.....these are a
REAL COLLECTORS camera

so what?
so what?
i think it's funny that so many people are up in arms about what someone else is doing with HIS money. i couldn't hope to use every single camera that i own in a year, so i understand the collector thing. there are just certain things that people want and maybe they make them feel better about something. so what's the big deal? let all of those collectors hoard their cameras and let them sit on shelves not being used. what difference does it make if you wouldn't ever spend that much money on a simple camera anyway? maybe this guy spending a fortune on a nonworking M4 will take him out of the bidding on that functional M4 you're coveting on ebay right now...
