Neopan 400 CN

Assaf this film is only available in Japan and Britain. It is pretty close to XP2 but different from it. Ilford actually makes it for UK distribution.

I read a rumor somewhere that the film actually is rebadged XP-2. This could well be false; Simon Galley of Ilford frequently posts on APUG and is adamant that Ilford's emulsions are not sold under any other names. He also says the company does manufacture other brands' materials.
If you're curious, try it out and post results.

I've read the same thing but it's not XP2. It's close though. When he was shooting film, the wedding photog Jeff Ascough would use nothing else. He got absolutely brilliant results out of it.

I want to try it but I think it's not imported at all to Israel.
If I manage to get one I'll post results.

Thanks
Assaf

It's available in Slovakia and it's definitely distributed by Fuji, not Ilford. Also the results have different look (closer to Neopan 400 than XP2)

I have used this film. Attached are links to some pictures all taken with an Olympus XA-2. It helps to have the pics because you can draw your own conclusions. The developing and processing was done in some random place (not high quality) and these scans were made with a flatbed from the prints. Not the best solution sorry.

Personally, I thought the prints were of very good quality with lots of fine detail, little grain, but perhaps too much contrast for my liking. But then, I honestly don't know how much of this was down to the camera, the developing, the printing, or the scanning.

I've been using this film the last few months @400 and 1600 ASA. Results seem to work well in contrasty back lit situations. Grain is sharp but for my tastes too much contrast. Examples seen in the C41 thread a few weeks ago - for some reason i can't re-upload them? neither can i find the thread using the search function  I've been doing some more @320 and 640 ASA.

Simon if you try to upload an image that you have previously uploaded to another thread, the link to the thread in which the image appears shows up at the top of the Manage Attachments dialog box as you get the message that you have previously uploaded. Click on that link and the relevant thread appears in a new instance of the browser. Find the image, click on the thumbnail and it will open in yet another instance of the browser. Copy & paste the HTTP address of the image into the
