Yashica Electro 35 GT (black)

Price is fine. You won't end up using a lot of the stuff that comes in that kit but it's fun to have. I don't use the tripod, carrying case or the tele or wide lenses. Time will tell but the camera itself is a nice one. It's substantially different from an Oly RC 35 though in size and lens character.

Good luck!

Thanks, Jan, appreciate the info. You're not the only one who said I probably
wouldn't be using those accessory lenses. The case looks like a girl's makeup kit,
don't think I'll be packing that around, either.:D

You got a bargain. The accessory lenses alone fetch more than the camera in the UK. Use it and if you don't like it clean it up and get it back on e-bay as a "retro-kit" (wannabes buy into this type of jargon) and you'll make more than your money back.

Thanks, lol

Thanks, Lol999,
I was thinking about that very thing, selling the makeup case and lenses as an
accessory set. ;-)

Jan - what would you say the differences are, just out of interest? I would guess at the RC being more contrasty and the Yashica being perhaps sharper and smoother. No idea about bokeh.

Hi. If I was you I would keep the kit complete. These full kits are quite rare and I think it would be a mistake to break it up. You must have somewhere to store the case etc if you are not going to use it.
Regards, Howard

Sure, no problem, I can store the case/aux lenses away. The auction went for only $54 and I was very surprised. I had a maxbid of $110 and was thinking that wasn't enough to win..

Sam,
$150 is what I thought it would go for! I have friends that sell on ebay regularly
that tell me people aren't paying the prices they did last year. They are having a
very disappointing Christmas season on ebay.

@ Zuikologist.. to compare the glass and the images from these two cameras in general terms I'd say

RC- sharper image, more contrast. Sometimes the colours seem weaker than I recalled. I'd describe this as a documentary or journalistic image. Good for streetphotography especially in black and white.

GSN-less sharp, less contrast. The colour saturation is much better and the image has a smoother feel to it. I'd describe this as an enjoyable or artful image. Good for portraits or landscapes in colour.

Those are entirely subjective views of course. I hope that helps.

FWIW because of that I use each camera for the appropriate shooting style.
